Abiqua River Camp is situated on the northern bank of the Orange River, 16km downstream from the Nooroewer/Vioolsdrif border post (half-way between Cape Town and Windhoek).
The campsite boasts a big tree-covered lawn area. You can creep into a delightful spot, pitch your tent and have a wonderful view of the river and the spectacular Geelkrans Cliffs on the opposite bank. Alternatively, depending on availability, you can make use of an enclosed lapa section or our chalet. Caravans and trailers are welcome. Clean ablutions and hot showers are available. There is a well-stocked bar, and wood, soft drinks, ice and meat can also be purchased. Fresh bread is available daily in Noordoewer (10km).
Popular attractions include bird-watching, fishing, and canoeing. A drive to the Fish River Canyon is a worthwhile day excursion. A 20-minute walk from the campsite takes you to some petroglyphs (San rock engravings). For the more adventurous traveler, visit
